Why surgeons send their patients to us
Area surgeons have referred patients to The Therapy Institute for decades because our results are measurable: strength, range of motion, and function, documented at every monthly re-evaluation and reported back to your surgical team. You’ll work one-on-one with the same licensed therapist at every session — someone who knows your protocol, your surgeon’s preferences, and your goals.
Prehab: the recovery you do in advance
Research is clear that patients who enter surgery stronger come out of it faster. A short course of pre-surgical therapy (“prehab”) builds strength and range of motion in advance, teaches you the exercises you’ll need on day one, and answers the questions that make recovery less intimidating.
After surgery: a protocol, not a guess
Post-operative care follows your surgeon’s protocol and progresses at the speed of your healing tissue — never a one-size-fits-all handout. Depending on your procedure, treatment may include:
- Hands-on manual therapy, and soft-tissue and joint mobilization
- Gait and balance training
- Therapeutic exercise and functional strength training
- Electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and ultrasound where appropriate
- Progressive exercises for strength, endurance, motion, balance, and coordination
After discharge: don’t stop at “good enough”
A knee that bends to protocol is a milestone — not the finish line. When insurance-covered rehab ends, our Adult Fitness & Longevity programs pick up exactly where it left off, with the same therapists guiding your return to golf, travel, the gym, and everything else you had surgery to get back.
