Sports We Treat & Train

Basketball Injury Physical Therapy & Recovery

Basketball is thousands of jumps, landings, and cuts on a hard floor. The ankles and knees keep score. We treat what the season breaks and train the landings that prevent the repeat.

Common basketball injuries we treat

Almost everything on this list traces back to jumping, landing, and cutting — which is exactly why it's all trainable.

Ankle sprains

Basketball's most common injury, usually a landing on someone else's foot. The first sprain matters most: rehab it fully and the ankle recovers; skip it and 'weak ankles' becomes a career-long identity.

Jumper's knee (patellar tendinopathy)

The aching kneecap tendon that hates the first minutes of warm-up. Tendons rebuild through properly dosed strength work — rest alone just postpones the same pain to next month.

ACL injuries

The non-contact ACL tear — a plant-and-cut gone wrong — is basketball's season-ender, disproportionately affecting female athletes. We handle rehab through return-to-play testing, and landing-mechanics training to cut the risk in the first place.

Achilles pain & calf strains

Explosive push-offs on hard courts load the Achilles hard, especially in older players. Morning stiffness and warm-up pain are the early warnings worth respecting.

Finger & hand injuries

Jammed fingers and thumb sprains that 'get taped and played on' — usually fine, occasionally a ligament injury that stiffens permanently without care. Quick to check, worth checking.

Hip & groin pain

Defensive slides and explosive changes of direction stress the hips and adductors. Recurring tightness here is a strength gap announcing itself.

How we get you back on the court

Assessment, recovery, and strength plans from doctors of physical therapy — we work with you until the problem is resolved and you're back at peak performance.

Assess

A full evaluation of your injury and your sport-specific movement — we find the cause, not just the sore spot.

First visit

Recover

Hands-on treatment and a plan to calm pain and restore motion. Injury care is typically covered by insurance with a referral.

Insurance-based

Rebuild

Progressive strength and mobility work targeted at what your sport demands — so the problem doesn't come back.

Either track

Return

A graded return to play, with optional performance training to come back better than before the injury.

Direct, cash-based

Why basketball players come to us

Because we treat the injury and the landing that caused it. Every basketball rehab here ends with jump-and-land retraining and return-to-play testing — and athletes who want more than recovery walk ten steps into the Performance Lab to build the vertical, speed, and durability the next season demands.

Basketball questions we hear a lot

How do I stop spraining the same ankle?
Finish the rehab that never happened. After the pain fades, the ankle still lacks position sense and reactive stability — that’s the part re-injury exploits. A few weeks of balance and hop training measurably drops re-sprain risk. Braces help; rebuilt ankles help more.
Can jumper's knee heal during the season?
Often, yes — tendinopathy management is about adjusting load, not eliminating it. We modify practice volume, add isometric and strength work the tendon actually responds to, and most athletes keep playing while it improves.
Is basketball injury treatment covered by insurance?
Typically yes, with a physician referral. Vertical-jump development, speed work, and off-season strength run through the cash-based Performance Lab.
Can you make my athlete jump higher too?
That’s the fun part of the job — Youth Athlete Development builds the strength and power behind a vertical, and the landing mechanics that keep knees healthy while it grows. Same building, same team.
