Cycling Injury Physical Therapy & Recovery
Cycling is repetitive by design — thousands of identical pedal strokes per ride. When something's off in your body or your position, the bike finds it, every single ride.

Common cycling injuries we treat
Cycling injuries are almost all overuse or position problems — which makes them unusually fixable.
Cyclist's knee (patellofemoral pain)
The most common cycling complaint — front-of-knee ache that builds through rides. Saddle height, cleat position, cadence, and quad/hip strength all factor in; small changes produce big relief.
Low back pain
Long hours in flexion catch up with desk workers who ride. Hip mobility and trunk endurance usually matter more than a new saddle — though position gets checked too.
Neck & shoulder pain
Holding the head up in a road position strains necks, especially on longer rides. Mobility work plus cockpit adjustments (reach, drop, hoods) resolve most cases.
Numb hands & fingers
Ulnar nerve compression from bar pressure — the pinky-side tingling that builds on rides. Position, padding, and nerve-glide work beat just toughing it out.
Hip pain & impingement
The closed hip angle at the top of the pedal stroke aggravates stiff or impinged hips. Often felt as groin pinching on climbs or in the drops.
Achilles & foot pain
Cleat position and pedaling mechanics load the Achilles and forefoot. 'Hot foot' and heel pain usually trace to setup plus tissue capacity.
How we get you back in the saddle
Assessment, recovery, and strength plans from doctors of physical therapy — we work with you until the problem is resolved and you're back at peak performance.
Assess
A full evaluation of your injury and your sport-specific movement — we find the cause, not just the sore spot.
First visitRecover
Hands-on treatment and a plan to calm pain and restore motion. Injury care is typically covered by insurance with a referral.
Insurance-basedRebuild
Progressive strength and mobility work targeted at what your sport demands — so the problem doesn't come back.
Either trackReturn
A graded return to play, with optional performance training to come back better than before the injury.
Direct, cash-basedWhy cyclists come to us
Cycling pain sits at the intersection of body and machine, and we treat both sides: measure your mobility and strength, watch how it maps to your position, fix the tissue, and flag the setup changes worth making. Riders come to Haslett from road, gravel, and trail communities across Greater Lansing.
