Sports We Treat & Train

Lacrosse Injury Physical Therapy & Recovery

Lacrosse blends soccer's running, hockey's contact, and an overhead throwing motion — and collects injuries from all three. We treat the whole mix.

Common lacrosse injuries we treat

A sport this fast-growing produces a lot of first-time athletes ramping up quickly — and a predictable injury list.

Ankle sprains

Constant cutting on turf and grass makes ankle sprains lacrosse's most common injury. Complete rehab — not just 'until it stops hurting' — is what prevents the chronically loose ankle.

Knee injuries (ACL, MCL, meniscus)

Dodging is a plant-and-cut on repeat. We rehab lacrosse knees through return-to-play testing and train the deceleration mechanics that protect them.

Shoulder injuries from checks

Body checks and falls produce AC joint sprains and collarbone-area injuries. Post-injury (or post-surgical) rehab restores the overhead motion shooting demands.

Hamstring & groin strains

Full-field sprinting plus lateral defense equals the classic muscle-strain pattern — and the classic recurrence problem when strength deficits go unfixed.

Low back & trunk pain

The torque of shooting and passing runs through the trunk. Teen players with persistent back pain deserve evaluation — growing spines handle rotational load differently.

Wrist & thumb injuries

Slashes and cross-checks find hands. Small-joint sprains heal fast when treated and stiffen when ignored.

How we get you back on the field

Assessment, recovery, and strength plans from doctors of physical therapy — we work with you until the problem is resolved and you're back at peak performance.

Assess

A full evaluation of your injury and your sport-specific movement — we find the cause, not just the sore spot.

First visit

Recover

Hands-on treatment and a plan to calm pain and restore motion. Injury care is typically covered by insurance with a referral.

Insurance-based

Rebuild

Progressive strength and mobility work targeted at what your sport demands — so the problem doesn't come back.

Either track

Return

A graded return to play, with optional performance training to come back better than before the injury.

Direct, cash-based

Why lacrosse players come to us

Lacrosse athletes need a clinic that understands the sport’s hybrid demands — running volume, contact, and an overhead shot. Our rehab plans end with dodging, shooting, and return-to-contact progressions, and the Performance Lab next door builds the speed the sport keeps getting faster around.

Lacrosse questions we hear a lot

My athlete just started lacrosse and everything hurts. Normal?
Common, and worth sorting out. Lacrosse’s growth means many athletes jump in without the running base the sport assumes — soreness is expected, but pain that localizes, persists, or changes how they run is a load problem worth evaluating before it becomes an injury.
Is lacrosse injury treatment covered by insurance?
Typically yes, with a physician referral — sprains, knee rehab, and shoulder injuries are standard orthopedic care. Speed and strength development runs through the cash-based Performance Lab.
How long does an AC joint sprain keep a player out?
Grade-dependent: mild sprains can return in 1–3 weeks with proper rehab; higher grades take longer. The key for lacrosse is restoring pain-free overhead motion for shooting — that’s the benchmark, not just calendar time.
Do you offer lacrosse-specific training?
Yes — dodging is deceleration, and deceleration is trainable. Youth Athlete Development covers the speed, change of direction, and strength work that makes players faster and knees safer at once.
