Soccer Injury Physical Therapy & Recovery
Soccer's injuries are as predictable as its schedule: groins, hamstrings, ankles, and knees. We treat all four patterns weekly — and build the strength that keeps them from becoming annual traditions.

Common soccer injuries we treat
Kicking, cutting, and sprinting — every soccer action loads the same few structures. Here's what shows up in our clinic every season.
Groin & adductor strains
Soccer's signature injury — the pull that lingers and loves a comeback. Adductor strength is the proven protection; we wrote a whole post on it, including the Copenhagen plank we prescribe constantly.
Hamstring strains
Top-speed sprints catch under-trained hamstrings. Like groin strains, the re-injury rate is the real enemy — eccentric strength and a graded sprint return are what break the cycle.
Ankle sprains
Tackles and awkward landings make this soccer's most common acute injury. Full rehab — balance, hop testing, reactive stability — is what separates a two-week injury from a chronic one.
ACL injuries
Plant-and-cut tears disproportionately affect female soccer players. We rehab through return-to-play testing and coach the landing and cutting mechanics shown to reduce risk.
Calf & Achilles problems
The stop-start sprinting of a full match accumulates in the calf-Achilles complex, especially in adult league players. Stiff mornings after games are the early flag.
Hip impingement & flexor pain
The kicking motion demands deep, repeated hip flexion. Pinching in the front of the hip during shots or sprints deserves an evaluation — not just a longer warm-up.
How we get you back on the pitch
Assessment, recovery, and strength plans from doctors of physical therapy — we work with you until the problem is resolved and you're back at peak performance.
Assess
A full evaluation of your injury and your sport-specific movement — we find the cause, not just the sore spot.
First visitRecover
Hands-on treatment and a plan to calm pain and restore motion. Injury care is typically covered by insurance with a referral.
Insurance-basedRebuild
Progressive strength and mobility work targeted at what your sport demands — so the problem doesn't come back.
Either trackReturn
A graded return to play, with optional performance training to come back better than before the injury.
Direct, cash-basedWhy soccer players come to us
Soccer’s most common injuries are its most preventable — groin and hamstring strains respond to strength work the way almost nothing else in sports medicine does. We treat the injury in front of us, measure the deficit behind it, and hand every player a plan to not be back next season. Club and school players come to Haslett from across East Lansing, Okemos, DeWitt, Bath, and Williamston.
